Charles (Charlie) Adams Curry 72 of Shellman, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 in the Pheobe Sumter Medical Center in Americus. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 in the Shellman First Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Tomlinson and Rev. Olin Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Shellman Eastview Cemetery.
Charles Adams Curry was born Jan. 13, 1946 in Cuthbert the son of the late James Riley and Martha Adams Curry Brooks. Mr. Curry was a High School graduate of Shellman High School and was a member of the Shellman First Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Curry is a graduate of Georgia Southwestern and has a Master’s degree in Banking from LSU. He was a past Chairman of the Randolph County Commission and former councilman for the city of Shellman. He also was the Director and past President of the Cuthbert Rotary Club, past Chairman of Community Bankers Association, Director of Georgia Bankers Association and Director of Flint Community Bank of Albany. Mr. Curry was the present President and Chairman of First State Bank of Randolph County. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years; Lorraine Sauls Curry of Shellman, a daughter; Heather Hoats (Kenneth) of West Point GA, a son; Scott Curry (Brandi) of Shellman, 2 brothers; Jimmy Curry (Martha) of Shellman and Shannon Curry of Albany and 5 grandchildren; Corbin Hoats, Curry Hoats, Lillie Hoats, Lorraine Curry and Ruthie Curry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Chuck Curry.
