Laura (Barfield) Robinett

Annie Laura Barfield Robinett passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017. Mrs. Robinett was born on August 13, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Barfield of Louisville, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and a number of academic awards. As a teacher in Ellaville, Georgia, she met and married a young WWII marine veteran from Shellman, W. Max Robinett, on January 4, 1949. To their union was added two children, Shirley Robinett McKinney and James (Jim) Robinett. Mrs. Robinett was active in Church and Civic affairs. As a member of First Baptist Church of Shellman, she taught the Joy Sunday School Class for many years. She served many years on the Randolph County Library Board and the Kinchafoone Regional Library Board. She was also active in the Daughters of the American Revolution Noble Wymberly Jones Chapter. Mrs. Robinett loved flowers and her yard where she spent many hours tending to her flower beds. Mrs. Robinett’s other great passion in life was tracing her family tree which she shared with many of the family members. Mrs. Robinett is survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Edwards; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley McKinney; a son, James (Jim) Robinett and wife Nancy; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. From a letter in Mrs. Robinett’s own handwriting came this closing testimony: “And I answered, yes Lord, I believe you can make me whole not only physically but also spiritually. I accepted Christ right there on my bed and my life was changed. Joy came into my life.”

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 12^th at 2:30 PM in the Shellman Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Pittman and Rev Scott McKinney officiating.
