Robert Lewis Brown

Robert Lewis (Bob) Brown was born April 14, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia, son of Peggy and James (Buck) Brown. Bob passed unexpectedly Thursday morning February 22, 2018 at Clay County Health and Rehabilitation in Ft Gaines, GA.

After graduating from Clay County High School in 1972 Bob attended George Wallace Technical College in Eufaula, Alabama where he studied welding. After finishing this program Bob was employed at the Farley Nuclear Plant in Columbia, Ala. for a short while.  He then gained employment at Rubo’s grocery store of Ft Gaines, GA.  Bob was a people person throughout his life and his job at Rubo’s provided him the joy of interacting with and helping customers.

Bob had several hobbies including hunting, fishing, and making hunting and exhibitions bows. He enjoyed going to field trials with his father and help with the dogs and horses.

Bob loved his extended family. He spent a lot of time with the children helping them to enjoy horseback riding and archery.  He even made bows for them.

Bob was a member of the Fort Gaines Presbyterian Church from childhood. He was an enthusiastic Boy Scout as a child and supported the organization always.

In later life, Bob developed serious health problems which necessitated changes in his life. His last years were in residence at Clay County Health and Rehabilitation where he grew to appreciate music and loved to sing.

Bob is survived by his mother Peggy Brown, his brother Allen and wife (Mila) Brown, and his nephew John Bae.  Other survivors include many close cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Fort Gaines Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in New Park Cemetery in Fort Gaines. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Lunsford Funeral Home Cuthbert, Georgia (229-732-2148).
