Charles Presley Jackson was born Oct. 3, 1945, in Cuthbert GA, second son of Luther F And Frances Hodge Jackson and brother of Wayne Jackson, all of whom predeceased him.
He grew up on a farm with an avid love of fishing, cats, and arrowhead collecting. He was baptized at 12 years old in Trinity Methodist Church in the Trinity community. He attended high school in Shellman Georgia where he graduated valedictorian of the last senior class of Shellman High School in 1963.
He married Dianne White of Blakely in the same year and that marriage produced three children, Chuck, Charlene, and Kenneth.
He spent most of his adult life in Whitehouse and Tyler, Texas where he was employed as a network engineer of GTE, Contel, and Verizon telephone services. In Texas in 1975 he married Cathy Strutka of Little Rock, Arkansas. During those years he had three children, Danny, Crystal, and Casey. As a single parent he raised daughter Casey until she became of age.
In retirement he returned to Georgia and settled in Bainbridge living close to his daughter. In 2019 he relocated to the Fellowship Home in Cuthbert. During the Covid pandemic his family wanted him back on the farm and he returned there to spend his final three years.
Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory a sister Carol Jackson, Cuthbert , GA, six children, Charles D (Chuck) Jackson, Cuthbert, GA, Charlene Jackson Knight (Tom), Port St Joe Fl; Kenneth Jackson, Bainbridge , GA; Casey Jackson Harris (David) Chesterfield, VA, Daniel Jackson (Nichole), Dardanelle, Arkansas; Crystal Jackson Hampton, Addison, TX He leaves eight grandchildren: Rachel (Judah) Santana, Whitehouse, TX, Jade Jackson Gallardo, Brownsboro, Tx, Kimberly Knight (Troy) Mallory, Port St Joe, Fl, Chason Harris (Kylie) , Tyler Tx; Colton Harris (Crystal), South Korea; Connor Harris, Chesterfield, VA; Jake Graves and Madison Chiolino, Dardanelle , Arkansas. Great grandchildren include Aiden, Zoey, Grace and Lilah Santana, Thomas Mallory, Sophia and Carlos Gallardo.
A memorial service will be held on March 2, 2024, at Trinity Methodist Church, Cuthbert, GA at 11AM. Rev Paul Buckhiester will conduct the service. Friends and family are invited to attend both the celebration of life and the lunch following the service. Pursuant to Charles’ wishes, his ashes will be spread on the arrowhead field on the family farm.
