Patricia McCranie Collier, 81, of Georgetown, GA passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 6, 2024, at 10:30 AM in the Fort Gaines Fellowship Church.
Mrs. Collier was born on July 12, 1942, in West Point, GA the daughter of the late Angus James McCranie, Sr. and the late Margarite Studstill McCranie. She moved to Warner Robins, GA where she had two daughters Suzy and Sandi in her first marriage. She graduated from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University) with an Educational Specialist degree. She moved to Brunswick, GA and then to Saint Simons Island where she was a member and sang in the choir of the United Methodist Church.
She met the love of her life Roy Phillips Collier, and they married on February 10, 1990 at Epworth by the Sea. She taught school for 33 years, the majority in Glynn County at Glynn Middle School teaching language arts. She and Roy moved to Clay County, GA in 2008 creating a wonderful circle of friends. She was a member of the Fort Gaines Fellowship Church and choir. She loved playing cards and board games, never letting her grandchildren win outright. She loved to read, do puzzles, cruise, work in her flower beds and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Phillips Collier, Sr. of Georgetown, 3 daughters, Suzy Jones (Thomas) Dukes of Athens, GA, Sandi Jones (Barry) Dutton of Commerce, GA and Kelly Reid (Thomas) Brock of Winston-Salem, NC, 2 sons, Roy Phillips “Tash” (Betty) Collier, Jr. of Ellettsville, IN and Olin Todd “Todd” (Lauren) Collier of Darien, GA, a brother, Angus James “Jim” McCranie of Statesboro, GA, 9 grandchildren, Natasha, TC, Josh, Carley, Weston, Brandon, Quinn, Rylie and Jenna and 8 great grandchildren, Kylee, Nash, Kit, AJ, Jaxton, Jace, Olivia and Leighton.
