Billy Waymon “Jack” Mote, 87, of Cuthbert passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Southwest Georgia Medical Center in Cuthbert. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019 at New Bethel Baptist Church near Cuthbert with Rev. David Crowdis officiating. Interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Mr. Mote was born on March 14, 1932 in Calhoun County the son of the late William M. “Bill” and Linda Jane Phipps Mote of Dickey, GA. His grandparents were Wells Walker Mote and Minnie Howard Mote of Dickey, GA and William Gustavius Phipps and Emma Mullins Phipps of Morgan, GA. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy having served his country in the Korean War. After the war he returned home to farm the land and care for his Livestock, Cows and Hogs for over 40 years. In 1956 he married his bride, Anna Williams Mote, formerly of Blakely, GA. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, laughing and telling vivid stories and collecting items for his archives of articles and pictures. Jack had a passion for chasing coons and spent many late hours in the South Georgia swamps doing just that. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, Rubin Jones Masonic Lodge, American Legion Post 85 and he was the President for over 40 years of the Nochaway Coon Hunters Inc. Most of all he loved his Grandchildren, his little darlings. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, a brother, Dan Mote and a sister, Betty Mote Britto.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Williams Mote of Cuthbert, a daughter, Donna Mote Kimbrel, son-in-law, Casey, grandsons, Owen and Grant Kimbrel all of Shellman, GA, a son, Gary Waymon Mote, daughter-in-law, Stacie Hall Mote, granddaughter, Haley Hammock, grandson Jack and Garrison Mote all of Cuthbert, GA, a brother, Ben Mote, a sister, Louise Mote Porter and husband, Charles all of Edison, GA a sister, Sarah Helen Kilgore of Decatur, GA, a brother, Jerry Mote of Americus and a brother-in-law, Chuck Britto of Shalimar, FL.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church at 41 Mote Rd. Cuthbert, GA 39840.
