Carolyn Bostwick Cannington died peacefully on Dec 2, 2017 surrounded by family at Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center in Cuthbert following a lengthy illness at the age of 79.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Horace Cannington, son Dale Cannington (Anna), and daughter TeResa Torbert (Terry), her sister Mary Alice Gay, her grandchildren Crystal Cannington Carter, Candice Gilbert, Tyler Cannington, and Christopher Torbert, and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, A.J. and Mary Bostwick. 

Carolyn was born on Oct 27, 1938 Cuthbert, GA.  She graduated from Cuthbert High School.  She married Horace T. Cannington on Sep 22,1956.  Carolyn worked for 41 years for Citizen’s Bank and Regions Bank in Cuthbert, GA and retired as Assistant Vice President. 

Carolyn was accomplished at homemaking, painting, and cake baking, and often baked a dozen cakes in a month. She was a sweet and loving individual who loved her grandchildren and took a very active role in raising them.  She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church and fed hundreds of children at the Wednesday night children’s program. 

A funeral is scheduled for at 11:00 AM Monday Dec. 4, 2017 in the chapel at Lunsford Funeral Home. The Rev. Ben Crowdis will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carolyn’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Stroke Association or the church or charity your choice in her honor. The family would like to thank the Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home and the Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center staff for their care and dedication.

Visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday Dec. 3, 2017 at Lunsford Funeral Home.
