Jerry Hoyt Washburn, 82, of Albany passed away Friday, June 14, 2019, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at the Graves United Methodist Church in Terrell County on Sunday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Allen Carmichael officiating.
Jerry was born September 14, 1936, in Alexander City, AL, the son of the late Berthal Paul Washburn and the late Agnes Duck Washburn Jinright. He was a 1954 graduate of Greenville High School in Greenville, AL, and served in the United States Air Force for 4 years at Eglin Air Force Base. He was employed until 1979 by the Bendix Field Engineering Corporation as a Senior Electronics Technician where he worked at several satellite tracking stations, including Quito, Ecuador. He retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany in 1991.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years Jane Fox Washburn, his 2 brothers Fred Washburn (Allyson) of Albany and Danny Washburn (Sandi) of Americus, his 2 sisters Beverly McCollum of Dothan, AL, and Nancy Kondos (Christ) of Dahlonega, a special 1st cousin Reuben Washburn (Helga) of Augusta, and sister-in-law Laurie Montfort (Noel) of Cuthbert. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Major Maxwell Washburn and Edwin Washburn.
