Jerry Powell

Jerry Powell, 71, of Ft. Gaines, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Hartley officiating.

Jerry was born on October 7, 1946 in Arlington, GA the son of the late John Paul and Thelma Irene Lindsey Powell. He was an Army Veteran serving as a Sargent where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and retired as a Rural Mail Carrier.

Survivors include his wife; Ruth Devane Powell of Ft. Gaines, 2 sons; Lee Powell and Jeffrey (Janna) Powell both of Ft. Gaines, 2 grandchildren; Ella Beth Powell and William Powell, a step daughter; Ginny (Mike) Fuller of Phenix City, AL, 2 sisters; Janice (John) McAllister of Cumming, GA and Paula (Emory) Moore of Seneca, SC and a brother; Charles M. (Marsha) Powell of Ft. Gaines.

The family will receive friends at 720 Cottonhill Rd. Ft. Gaines on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or to your favorite charity
