Barbara Ann McCorkle Everson Ferguson, 94, passed away June 30, 2026, among family. The graveside service will take place at the cemetery of Salem Baptist Church in Edison, Georgia on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Pastor David Crowdis and Pastor Ben Crowdis will officiate. Visitation will be received on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home
Barbara was born in Edison, Georgia on March 3rd, 1932, to William Sidney McCorkle and Bonnie Holloway McCorkle. She graduated from Edison High School in 1949 and attended Bessie Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia. She was married to Hubert Everson of Damascus, Georgia and they were blessed with three children. Together, Hubert and Barbara owned Everson Seed and Feed in Edison. After her husband’s death, she continued to operate the store until 1988.
After marrying Robert Ferguson of Cuthbert in 1974, Barbara worked in the activity department at Calhoun Nursing Home. She was an active member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, VBS, and played the piano faithfully until she was 92 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three sisters, .one brother, and her son, Hugh Everson. Barbara’s siblings were Bea Moore of Pine Mountain, Doris Culbreth of Edison, Hilda Vann of Sasser, and Donald McCorkle of Albany.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters Gay (David) Crowdis, and Sydney Everson, both of Cuthbert, five grandchildren, Kendra (Justin) Bishop of Sharpsburg, Karly Chandler (Greg Long) of Leesburg, Jonathan (Laci) Crowdis of Hahira, Jenny (Shawn) Harris of Columbus, and Ben (Kim) Crowdis of Cuthbert, and was survived by eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Woods and Margie McCorkle, and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Crowdis, Ben Crowdis, Shawn Harris and Justin Bishop.
