BARBARA MATHIS

Barbara Howerton Mathis, 84, of Cuthbert, GA passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, in the Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM EST on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in the chapel of Lunsford Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Ward and Rev. David Crowdis officiating. Interment services will be conducted at 2:00 PM CST on Monday, February 23, 2026, in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Abbeville, AL. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until funeral time in the funeral home.

Barbara was born on November 13, 1941, in Abbeville, Al the daughter of the late Floyd Howerton and the late Nellie Baron Howerton. She was a seamstress with Kellwood Company and Riverside in Edison, a graduate of Abbeville High School and a member of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Benjamin “Bennie” Columbus Eubanks, a son, Raymond Floyd Eubanks and 4 brothers, Foy, Walter, John and Jerry Wayne Howerton

Survivors include her husband, Don Mathis of Cuthbert, son, William Kenneth (Melanie) Eubanks Macon, sister, Patricia (Jerry) Walker of Abbeville, AL, brother, William (Yvonne) Howerton of Eufaula, AL, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren
