Betty Hammack Shattles Pennington, 75, of Cuthbert passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM in East View Cemetery with Dr. Emil Askew officiating.

Mrs. Pennington was born April 13, 1939 in Cuthbert the daughter of the late Hatchett and Madie Reese Hammack. She was a graduate of the Cuthbert High School, a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and retired in 1993 from the Kellwood Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Jack Hammack and both of her husbands, J. T. Shattles and Gordon Pennington.

Survivors include her daughters, Judie Garraga (Joey) of Cantonment, Fl. and Kathy Gillespie (Eric) of Pensacola, Fl., 3 brothers, Calvin Hammack, Dempsey Marshall and Joe Hammack, 3 sisters, Carolyn Dean, Gayle Lail and Elaine Wills, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Lunsford Funeral Home.
