Betty Lou Smith Varnum, 83, of Edison, GA passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the Vincent Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Crowdis officiating.

Mrs. Varnum was born on July 7, 1941, in Ozark, AL the daughter of the late Arvis L. Smith and the late Emma Lou Paramore Smith. She was a retired seamstress with Editex Industries in Edison, a member of the Vincent Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women's Association. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Bruce Varnum.

Survivors include her husband, Carroll Douglas Varnum of Edison, 2 sons, Charles (Denice) Varnum of Edison and Mike (Alicia) Varnum of Leary, a daughter, Rhonda (Raymond) Gibson of Bluffton, a daughter-in-law, Deborah Varnum, 2 sisters, Virginia (Larry) Whitaker of Colquitt and Pauline Huggins of Albany, a brother, Arvis L. (Stephanie) Smith of Colquitt, 6 grandchildren, Michael (Allyson) Varnum, Amanda (Chandler) Farley, Drew Varnum, Ryan (Christin) Varnum, Corey (Lexi) Gibson and Maria (Chris) Young and 7 great grandchildren, Jaxon Varnum, Lily Varnum, Rosie Farley, Ruby Farley, Axel Varnum, Hayden Rish and Ethan Young.
