BRENDA SMITH

Brenda Commander Smith, 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery near Shellman with Rev. Lee Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until funeral time at the cemetery.

Brenda was born on April 9, 1949, in Cuthbert, GA the daughter of the late Welsey Benjamin Commander, Jr. and the late Elizabeth Laurette Aycock Strickland. She received her nursing degree from Darton College and was retired as a registered nurse from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Patricia C. Duke and Joyce Commander and brother, Wesley Benjamin “Sonny” Commander, III.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Pamelia Smith Matt “Pam” (Joey) of Tifton and Amanda Grace Smith Griffin “Mandy” (Stacy) of Leesburg, son, Stephen “Mark” Smith of Shellman, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
