Charles Gerald (Charlie) Mathews, Sr., 65, of Cuthbert, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in the Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David McFather officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until funeral time on Saturday in the church.

Charlie was born on May 5, 1959, in Belle Glade, FL the son of the late Shirley Alice Connell Mathews and the late Robert Earl Mathews, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Roseiline Kenney "Sissy" Mathews; his son, Charles Gerald Mathews, Jr. his brother, Robert Earl Mathews, III; and his great-grandson, Rael Favela.

Charlie was an ambitious and aggressive business owner, owning multiple businesses with his loving wife, Sissy Mathews. Known by many as "Big Daddy," he lived big and gave just as much. His generosity, larger-than-life personality, and dedication to his family and friends left an unforgettable impact on those who knew him.

Survivors include children, Melissa Mathews Palumbo (Mike) of Dunwoody, GA, Terri Mathews Kellerman (Keith) of Harrisburg, NC, Vicki Taylor McLeod (Keith) of Ft. Gaines, GA, Sonny Taylor (Nicole) of McRae, GA, and Kimberly Taylor Scott (Brody) of Cuthbert, GA, sister-in-law, Karen Ashley Mathews of Greensboro, NC, grandchildren, Dylan (Alana) Frandsen, Stephen Crider, Cade Crider, Isla Palumbo, Macie Taylor, Xander Scott, Millie Taylor, Zoe Scott, Anna Kellerman and Emma Kellerman, and great grandchildren, Romeo Frandsen and Taylor Frandsen.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sonny Taylor, Dylan Frandsen, Mike Palumbo, Keith McLeod, Keith Kellerman, Brody Scott, Stephen Crider and Cade Crider.
