Obituary

Chester Hodgson Curry, 76, of 2784 Edison Hwy, Coleman died Tuesday July 30, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Martin Loyley, Rev. Garth Duke-Barton and Rev. Randy Stokes will officiate.

Mr. Curry was born on March 10, 1937 in Bypro, KY. the son the late Ukle and Bertha Little Curry. He graduated from Wheelwright High School in 1957. He attended Georgia Teachers College (GA Southern). He began his teaching career in Mitchell County as a teacher and coach, he also taught and coached at Albany Junior High School. After moving to Clay County, he became a successful farmer of Double C Farms. He participated in Church League Basketball teams, was a member of Clay Co. Board of Education, appointed to Clay Co. Board of Equalization and was very active in Wesley Chapel Church where he served as song leader. In 1993 he was honored by being inducted into the Georgia Southern Basketball Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene "Charli" Curry of Coleman, a son, Chad Heath Curry (Pen), three step sons, Rob Phillips (Linda) of Greensboro, NC, Brian Keith Phillips of Fort Walton, FL and Sean Phillips (Lynn) of Pennsylvania, a step daughter, Dana L. Moreland (Ron) of Blakely, a brother, Ellis Curry of Bypro, KY, three sisters, Orangie Curry of Bypro, KY, Marilee Crase (Manuel) of Union, KY and Melba Pippin (Paul) of Winchester, KY, eight grandchildren, Cassie Marie Curry, Lauren Phillips, Kristopher Phillips, Noah Phillips, Madison Phillips, Reid Pierce, Ann Pierce and James Pierce (Amber), five great grandchildren, extended family, Melissa, Preston, Renee Rice, Deeds Horner, Anita Bryant and Mike Ussery and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at 2784 Edison Hwy., Coleman, GA 39836. Memorials may be made to the Curry Music Fund c/o 2784 Edison Hwy., Edison, GA 39836.
