Darrell Allen Nielsen, 69, of Cuthbert passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted by his family at a later time.

Darrell was born on September 1, 1944 in Oak Park, Illinois the son of Darrell Ivan and Eleanor Hueglin Nielsen. He was a retired insurance underwriter with Zurich American Insurance Co. and was a member of the Cuthbert United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Matoush Nielsen.

Survivors include his parents, Darrell and Eleanor Nielsen of Round Lake, Ill., two daughters Kim Weiss of Cuthbert and Kerri (Kevin) Pratt of Castle Rock, Col., a sister, Sue Schenk of Mercer, Wisc. and four grandchildren, Clint Weiss, Shelby Weiss, Taylor Pratt and Josh Pratt.
