Dorothy Pelikan, 95, a long-time resident of Chester, Virginia died peacefully in her sleep on November 9, 2016 in the Fort Gaines Health and Rehabilitation, near her daughter, Caryl Munford.

She was born on October 14, 1921 the daughter of the late Robert Archer and Hettie Matthews. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chester, Virginia for over fifty years. She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Homer Pelikan, a daughter; Peggy Louise Archer Pelikan, two brothers; Joseph Archer and Eddie Archer and a grandchild; Conrad Munford.

Survivors include three daughters; Bonnie Pelikan, Caryl Munford and Linda Pelikan, a sister; Ruby Barham, a half-sister; Chris Rehberger and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ms. Pelikan was returned home to Virginia for interment.

She was a strong presence and an awesome lady, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
