Effie Turner Mackey, 70, of Cuthbert died January 27, 2013 at Vista Care Hospice in Columbus. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 30th at 11:00 AM at Damascus Baptist Church. Mr. Robert "Buck" White will officiate with interment in East View Cemetery in Cuthbert.

Mrs. Mackey was born December 21, 1942 in Edison, daughter of Mildred Weathersby Holt and the late Aaron Z. Turner. She was retired as director of the Enrichment Services Program of Cuthbert and was a member of Damascus Baptist Church where she had served as pianist for over 40 years. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Inger Mackey and her brother, Robert "Bob" Turner.

Survivors include her husband; Laurie Mackey and her Mother; Mildred W. Holt both of Cuthbert, a son; Mark (Shannon) Mackey of Edison, three grandchildren; Charlie McPherson, Martha-Kate (Keith) Latner and Dusti Mackey and a great-grandson; Dalton Latner.

The family will receive friends today (Tuesday) at Lunsford Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
