ELAH WORTHY DURANCE

Elah Worthy Durance, 102, of Cuthbert passed peacefully into the nearer presence of God on Monday, January 28, 2019, in the Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Ben McFather officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.

Ms. Elah, as most knew her, was born and raised in the Wayback community and she called Randolph County her home all of her life. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church, an avid gardener, an excellent comfort-food cook, and well into her eighties she "looked after the old folks" at Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home.  She loved and was loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Annie Clay Worthy, her husband, Andrew W. Durance, Sr. and sisters, Estelle Sinquefield (her twin), Frances Brooks, and Lucille Yoakum.

She is survived by her son, Andrew W. Durance, Jr. (Beth), grandchildren: Christene Durance-Watkins (David), Drew Sealy Durance, and one great grandchild, Morgan Durance, as well as nieces and nephews and their families.
