Helen Elaine Carter McTyer, 68, of Dawson passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Terrell County with Rev. Danny Craft officiating.

Elaine was born on January 8, 1949 in Cuthbert the daughter of the late James Perry Carter and Virginia Sparks Marcum. She was a retired newspaper carrier and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Terrell County. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; James Oliver "Mac" McTyer, Sr.

Survivors include 2 daughters; Sheryl McTyer Bennett of Albany and Kathryn McTyer Jackson of Cuthbert, a son; James Oliver McTyer, Jr. of Arabi, 2 sisters; Annie Sue Roberts of Dawson and Linda Brubaker of La Grange, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
