Obituary

Margaret Evelyn Gary Bynum, 89 of Georgetown, GA. passed away January 5th. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Henry Grady Bynum, Jr., her father Abner Ray Gary, Sr., her mother Cora Belle Gary, her brother Abner Ray Gary, Jr., and younger brother Donald Hughes Gary.

Born August 23, 1924 in Ensley, AL., her family moved to Morris, GA when she was two. She attended Morris Grammar School and graduated from Georgetown High School, where she was a high school beauty queen.

While living in Albany with her husband and daughter, with great determination she started her college education. Never one to neglect her family, it took her several more than four years  to obtain her AA from Albany Junior Colloege and a BS in education from Georgia Southwestern College. She was employed by Dougherty County School System and taught elementary math.

Growing up she was a member of Morris Baptist Church, she moved her letter to Sherwood Baptist Church while in Albany. Upon moving back to Georgetown with her husband she joined Georgetown Baptist Church. In the last few years of life she attended Shiloh Baptist Church with her daufgter and son-in-law. She was loved by the Shiloh members as one of their own.

Mrs. Bynum is survived by her daughter, Gary Ann Bynum Burdeshaw and son-in-law Jack Burdeshaw of Georgetown, and four siblings; Gordon Gary and wife Mary Eddie of Morris, GA., Jack Gary and wife Nadine of Georgetown, GA., Floy Ann Gary Raughton of Albany, GA., and Dan Gary and wife Daisy of Geneva, AL., along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8th at Morris Baptist Church at 1 PM EST. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM following visitation. Rev. Alan Raughton, nephew of Mrs. Bynum and Dr. Phil Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Morris Cemetery.
