Florence "Flo" Merritt Young, 82, of Shellman, GA passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, in the Joe Anne Burgin Nursing Home. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 4, 2023, in the chapel of Lunsford Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Starling officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until funeral time.

Flo was born on September 11, 1940, in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Joe Payne and Voncile Hilton Merritt. She was a retired bookkeeper, member of the Mary Brantley UDC chapter and a member of the Brooksville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rod Young a sister, Barbara Merritt Lumpkin and a grandson, James Johnson.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Rose A. Addison of Cuthbert and Dee (Douglas) Johnson of Saint Mary's, GA, a stepdaughter, Darlene (Brandon) Bateman, a stepson, Brian (Norma) Young, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
