Obituary

Lena Virginia Bauler Crouch (Geni) of Cuthbert, went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 12, 2015. Geni, as she preferred to be called, was a resident of Cuthbert, GA. the past 35 years. She always called Cuthbert home as she and her son, Jett, continually visited Cuthbert during the summer months, beginning in 1960, to be with her Mother and Father - Una and Frank Bauler.

Virginia was born on February 26, 1923 in Greensboro, FL. She spent her younger years as a telegrapher for Seaboard Railroad. After marriage, she became an Air Force Wife and faithfully followed her husband, Solon, to the following locations: Japan, Yokota AB 1952-55. Orlando, FL. Pinecastle AFB 1955-57, United Kingdom, High Wychombe 1957-59, Mountain Home AFB, ID 1960-61. Lowery AFB, Littleton, CO. 1962-63, Jacksonville, ARK, Little Rock AFB, 1963-64, Redlands, CA. Norton AFB, 1964-65 and Palm Springs, CA. 1965-71. After her husband retired from the USAF, she moved with him in business to Baton Rouge, La., Cary, NC., Dunn, NC. and Tonopah, NV.

She returned to Cuthbert to permanently reside in 1981. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuthbert. She enjoyed being a part of the Happy Hearts Group, the Winsome Sunday School Class and the Homebound Extension Department. Additionally, she always looked forward to having lunch daily with her long time friends at the different eatery establishments within Cuthbert. She enjoyed traveling to visit her son and daughter in law at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV., Hickam AFB, Honolulu, Hawaii, Moody AFB, Valdosta, GA and Gulf Breeze, FL. In her later years she enjoyed the company of her friend and care giver, Martha Burks and caring for her beloved pet "Buddy".

Geni was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was part of the Greatest Generation. She stood strong and fast as her husband went to war in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Of her many accomplishments during her association with the USAF, she was recognized as having served over 100,000 hours of voluntary work toward charitable organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt Col Solon R. Crouch, USAF (RET). by her mother and father, Una and Frank Bauler and her brother, Jack Bauler. She is survived by her son, Col Jett Crouch, USAF (RET) and his wife Kay of Gulf Breeze, FL., granddaughter, Susan Sutter and her husband John along with "the baby", great granddaughter, Sydney and grandson, Scott Crouch and wife Kira all from Gulf Breeze, FL. She also is survived by her nephew, Gary Bauler of Clearwater, FL.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 3:00 PM in Eastview Cemetery in Cuthbert. peacefully resting next to her mother and father with Rev. Ben Crowdis officiating. The family will receive friends at Lunsford Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:15 PM before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be given to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church, Cuthbert, Ga. 567 College Street  P. O. Box 274  Cuthbert, GA. 39840
