George Emory Ammons, 86, of Lumpkin, GA passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, in the Joe Anne Burgin Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in the Sardis Cemetery near Trottman with Rev. Lee Wright officiating.

George was born on June 11, 1937, in Stewart County, GA the son of the late George Benjamin Ammons and the late Josie Meeks Ammons. He was a graduate of Stewart County High School, a United States Army Veteran of 3 years and was a retired civil servant Manager of the USAF Hospital at Warner Robins. He loved fishing, camping, gardening, rendering aid to others and church activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Georgia McCarty, and 2 brothers, Donald and Glover Ammons.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine Jarman, 2 sons, Timothy "Tim" Ammons and Mark Ammons, 2 stepdaughters, Cindy Yaughn and Sherri Wiggins, 2 stepsons, Dale Preskitt and Eddie Preskitt, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
