George Wallace Sowell, 81, of Arlington passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021, in Sylvester at the residence of his son. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 3, 2022 in the Mt Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery near Cuthbert.

Mr. Sowell was born on April 7, 1940 in Washington, Co. FL the son of the late John Lewis and Mary Louise Smith Sowell. He was retired from security for Arlington Oil Mill and was a member of the Arlington Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Annie Maud Hammock Sowell and a brother, John Earl Sowell.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Maryann Romasavage of Allentown, PA and Kathy Lynn (Clinton) McCarthy of Edgewater, FL, 4 Sons, Mathew Sowell of PA, Martin Sowell of Arlington, David (Jeanna) Sowell of Slyvester and John (Teresa) Sowell of Sylvester, 2 sisters, Nettie Mae Sowell of Milton, FL and Rita (Jerry) Burns of Shellman, 2 brothers, Dwight Sowell of Cottondale, FL and Thomas Sowell of Americus, GA, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
