Imogene Boyett Knight, 84, of Abbeville, AL passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM eastern time on Thursday, September 17, 2015 in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery near Ft. Gaines, GA with Rev. Randy Stokes officiating.
Mrs. Knight was born on September 19, 1930 in Clay County GA the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Maude Howard Boyett. She graduated in 1952 from Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing in Mobile, put the first patient to bed and organized the teenage volunteer program in what is now Southeast Alabama Medical Center, worked for the Hayes International at the Dothan Airport and concluded her career at Sunland Center in Marianna, FL. She was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist church in Dothan and was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arthur Lee Boyett.
Survivors include a son, William "Bill" (Patty) Knight of Abbeville, Al and a granddaughter, Stormie Knight.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 5:30 until 6:30 central time at the Wesley Manor Retirement Community in the Chapel 718 Honeysuckle Road Dothan, AL. Memorials may be made to Wesley Manor or to Shiloh Baptist Church at 1974 Cottonhill Rd. Ft. Gaines, GA 39851.
