Col. (retired) James Henry Blankenship, 87, of Edison passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his son, James E. Blankenship and his cousin, Ed Williams on June 1, 2014. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:00 AM in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery near Edison.
Mr. Blankenship was born November 9, 1926 in College Park, Ga. the son of the late Robert and Nellie Burke Blankenship. He was a retired Navy and Army Veteran of 31 years, a shop teacher for Randolph Clay High School and a member of the Edison United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Beckham Blankenship, a daughter, Nancy B. Anthony and a sister, Louise Blankenship.
Survivors include a son, James E. Blankenship of Edison, a son-in-law, James Anthony of Brandenburg, KY., a sister, Ann Blankenship of Panama City, FL., a grandson, Mason C. Johnson of Frederick, MD., a great greadson, Riley Johnson and a cousin, Ed Williams of Ozark, AL.
