James E. “Jim” Allen, 82, of Cuthbert, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Pheobe Putney Memorial Hospital surrounded by the family he cherished so deeply. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery near Edison with Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Jimmy was born on April 22, 1943, in Americus, GA the son of the late Edgar Allen and Alma Toms Allen. Jim was a Mason and served faithfully as a Deacon at Damascus Baptist Church in Cuthbert, GA. Jim found great joy in the simple pleasures of life-spending time fishing and hunting, watching his favorite sports teams, and, most importantly, being with his family. Above all else, he loved and lived his life guided by his faith.
Jim dedicated more than three decades of his life to law enforcement and public service. He proudly served in the National Guard before beginning a career as a Georgia State Patrol officer, where he served for over 30 years. In addition, Jim was among the first to help charter GSP Post 39 in Cuthbert. His commitment to justice and community also led him to serve as a U. S. Deputy Marshall, a testament to his lifelong dedication to service and brotherhood.
Survivors include his belove wife of 48 years, Jan Smith Allen; his children, Lana (Daniel) McFather, Lauren (Steve) Stoklosa, Aubrey (Karin) Allen, and Jason Allen ; his grandchildren who affectionately called him PaPa, Josh (Lori-Ann) McFather, Caleb (Caitlin) McFather, Noah (Sarah Grace) McFather, Anna Stoklosa, Joseph Stoklosa, Jana Stoklosa, David Stoklosa, Mitchell Allen, Brennan Allen, and Jacob Allen and his treasured great-grandchildren, Haleigh McFather, James McFather and Lily McFather.
Jim will be remembered as a man of integrity, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love for his family. His life of service and devotion leaves an enduring mark on all who were blessed to know him.
