James Robert J. R. Brooks, Jr., 92, of Edison died Friday April 24, 2015 at the Calhoun County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2015 in the Salem Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Daniel McFather will officiate.

Mr. Brooks was born on April 24, 1923 in Edison, GA the son of the late James Robert Brooks, Sr. and the late Lonie Holloway Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a farmer, a member of the American Legion and the Sons of the Confederacy. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rushabelle Engram Brooks, a brother, Albert Brooks and 2 sisters, Eugenia Chambers and June Settles.

Survivors include a son Jack R. Brooks and his wife Mary of Edison, a daughter, Joan B. Ragan and her husband Thomas of Edison, a brother, Frank Gordon Brooks of Jacksonville, FL, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church, P. O. Box 477  Edison, GA. 39846. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Saturday April 25, 2015 at Lunsford Funeral Home.
