Martha Jane House Ledford, lovingly known as Jane, age 70, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at Columbus Hospice. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Orr officiating,
Jane was born on June 25, 1955, in Eufaula, Alabama, to the late Ed “Hotdog” House and Dorothy Lee Owen House. From an early age, she learned the value of hard work-a quality that defined her life and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Jane was a devoted and dependable worker throughout her life. She worked for many years as a secretary alongside her husband at Ledford’s Tractor and Auto Repair and Ledford’s Auto Parts. She also spent many years working in the jewelry department at the Fort Benning PX and was most recently employed at Gas N’ Go – Cusseta Travel Center. No matter where she worked, Jane was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and caring spirit.
She attended and was a graduate of Greenfield Academy. A lifelong lover of softball, Jane coached high school softball for many years and enjoyed playing recreational softball. She also gave countless hours of her time to her community as a dedicated Chairman of the Richland PigFest, a role she proudly held for many years. Jane was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her beloved husband, Larry Ledford; and her brother, Tom House.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Jessica (Chase) Hunter and Denise (Don) Otto: her son, Mickey (Wendy) Ledford: her bonus son, Eddie (Sonya) Storey: and her cherished grandchildren, Laynee Kate Hunter, Bentley Hunter, Abbie (Lee) Otto, Ashton Otto, Michael (Sophie) Ledford, K. C. Ledford, and Asa (Samantha) Storey. She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Charles) Shirling; her brothers, Bill (Mitzi) House and Owen House; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were truly like family to her.
Above all else, Jane loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was extremely proud of each of them. She will be remembered for her strength, her hardworking spirit, her love of softball, her dedication to her community, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Jane’s legacy of love, service. and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane’s memory to the Stewart/Webster Cancer Fund at 6381 Hamilton St. Preston, GA 31824.
