Obituary

We will gather on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Union Methodist Church near Morris at 2:00 PM to celebrate the life of Martha Jean Peak Rooks, who passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024. Born on December 16, 1935, Jean graced this world for 88 wonderful years. Her life was a testament to love, dedication, and service, touching the hearts of many along her journey.

Jean leaves behind her son, Nathan Carl Rooks, daughter-in-law, Lisa Sills, and her two beloved grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Rooks and Jessica Paige Rooks. Her family was the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Jean's passion for nursing began in her student nurse years and blossomed as she pursed her education at Andrew College. She further honed her skills at the Columbus Medical Center and dedicated her career to caring for others, first at Patterson Hospital and later at the Randolph County health department. Her commitment to the well-being of women and children was unwavering, and she was a beacon of hope and compassion in her community. Retiring in 1999, Jean left behind a legacy of care that is truly unfathomable.

Her impact extended beyond the medical field. Jean was an active member of her church, where her faith in the Lord guided her every step. She was a part of a prayer partners group that sent out cards every month, spreading love and encouragement. Her devotion to her faith and her community was evident in every action she took.

Jean was not just a nurse; she was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and cared for, and her legacy will continue to inspire us all.

As we remember Jean today, let us celebrate her life and the countless lives she touched. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. May we honor her memory by carrying forward the love and compassion she so generously shared with the world.

Rest in peace, Martha Jean Peak Rooks. You will be dearly missed, but your legacy will forever be remembered.
