IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jim
Kelley
July 24, 1957 – September 17, 2024
James "Jim" Fredrick Kelley, Jr. was born in Richland, GA in 1957. "Jim" passed away on September 17, 2024, with his wife and daughter by his side. He is preceded in death by his mother Fitzgerald Evans Kelley, his father James Fredrick Kelley, Sr., brother Charles Evans Kelley and nephew Randall Carter Butts.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the Lumpkin First Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Smith officiating and interment will follow in the North Side Cemetery in Lumpkin.
He grew up surrounded in love with his 4 siblings; Rachel Kelley Butts (Randy), the late Charles Evans Kelley (Kimberly), Jesse Williams Kelley (Cynthia), and Susan Kelley Avant (Chris). They enjoyed summers at the beach (even though they had to take afternoon naps), fun at the farm, Christmas mornings together, but most of all getting in and out of trouble together.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Layton Kelley in 1984. They loved to travel, ride the boat, and take afternoon rides with Tilly. Together they had Jamie Kelley Shropshire (Skyler). He never let them forget the year they forgot Father's Day. They enjoyed sock wars, beach trips (with afternoon naps on the couch), watching Georgia football, and dove hunting.
His greatest joys were his grandchildren; Layton Carter Shropshire, Miles Michael Shropshire, and Elizabeth Jade Shropshire. He loved going to all of their ballgames, taking them hunting and fishing, and always teaching them new things. Layton will never forget him taking him to the old school to teach him how to drive. Miles cherishes their times golfing and fishing together. They loved him just as much as he loved them.
He also had many nieces and nephews that he adored. They affectionately named him Bone and that name became a staple. All close friends and family called him by that name. Bone loved God and the church. We are content knowing he will be waiting with open arms to greet us in Heaven.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, Bone has hushed his fuss.
