James Thomas "Jim" Smith, Jr., 85, of Carnegie, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in the Southeast Medical Center in Dothan. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in the Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Edison, GA with Rev. Shannon Morris officiating.

Jim was born on September 27, 1937, in Jacksonville, FL the son of the late James Thomas Smith, Sr. and the late Myrtle Evelyn Taylor Smith. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and was retired from the United States Department of Agriculture as a National Monitor Coordinator. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Martha Faye Aycock Smith and 2 brothers, Norman Neil Smith, and Frederick H. Smith.

Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Southall of Carnegie, a son, Steven Ray (Maria) Smith of Indialantic, FL, a sister, Lydie S. Anderson of Elijay, GA, a brother, John Hull Smith of Pensacola, FL and 2 grandsons, Gustav Ray Smith and Christopher Adam (Evie) Southall.

The Family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church in care of Marie Ford 926 Ford Rd. Edison, GA 39846.
