CUTHBERT, GA

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jimmy Wade Rice, 79, of Cuthbert, Georgia, who passed away peacefully at his home on August 22, 2026.

Born in Morgan, Georgia, Jimmy was educated in the Randolph County School System and later attended Andrew College and Abraham Baldwin College.

A proud veteran, Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Army, including service as a military police officer during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated working career with Bill Fulford Ford, Kellwood, Best Manufacturing, and Georgia Feed American Protein before retiring.

Deeply committed to his community, he served on the Cuthbert City Council for approximately 20 years. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club, participating in numerous community projects and serving as president. Through these many years of service, he demonstrated a genuine love for Cuthbert and its people.

His faith was also an important part of his life. As a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Jimmy served as a deacon, giving of his time and talents in service to his church family. His faith was reflected in the way he lived and in his devotion to his family, friends, and community.

Above all, he treasured his family and the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed fishing, watching Westerns, working on his farm, and spending time with those he loved most.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Alva Rice; his mother, Lucile Beard Rice; his brother, William Wayne Rice; and his brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Engram, Jr.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Brenda Weaver Rice; his sons, Ryan Rice (Julie) of Cuthbert and Todd Rice (Jenni) of Albany; his daughter, Jalee Rice Wilson (Nate) of Fitzgerald, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Mallory Rice, Alyson Rice, Lawrence Carpenter, Anslee Wilson, Rylee Rice, Abigail Rice, Mattie Jane Carpenter, Sara Beth Wilson, Avery Rice, Emmaline Carpenter, and Morgan Wilson. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Jimmy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; a man of faith; a proud veteran; and a dedicated servant of his community. His kindness, commitment to others, and love for his family will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the Cuthbert Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Ziglar officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
