Joseph Lee (Joe) Fulghum, 68 of Shellman passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the Shellman East View Cemetery with Rev. Olin Johnson officiating.

Joe was born on February 7, 1948 in Americus the son of the late Clifford Fulghum and the late Elsie Cheek Fulghum. He was a retired lineman from Georgia Power after 42 years, a former Shellman City Councilman, a member of the Shellman First Baptist Church and was the Shellman Volunteer Fire Department Chief.

Survivors include his wife; Nita B. Fulghum, a daughter; Dawn (Jim) Crittenden of Shellman, 2 sons; Joe (Angie) Fulghum of Shellman and Todd Fulghum of Clinton, NC, 2 brothers; Steve Fulghum of Zebulon, GA and Melvin Fulghum of Americus, a sister; Wynelle Chase of Americus and 6 grandchildren; Lexie Fulghum, Ross Crittenden, Layne Fulghum, Ansley Crittenden, Blake Fulghum and Ally Crittenden.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 until 7:00 PM in the Curry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shellman Volunteer Fire Department in care of Kenny Bentley 4235 Bentley Rd. Shellman, GA 39886
