AMERICUS, GA--Mr. John Lee Goodrum, age 90, of 104 Southland Ridge Drive, Americus, GA died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. Father Don Hutchins will officiate. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

Mr. Goodrum was born June 24, 1925 in West Palm Beach Florida, and reared in Cordele GA. He was the son of the late Oscar Jefferson Goodrum and the late Eloise Wright Goodrum Black. Mr. Goodrum worked for Georgia Power for forty years, where he started as a line crew helper and retired as a district line supervisor. He was of the Anglican Faith. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years,Theresa Fenn Goodrum of Americus, GA; one daughter, Catherine G. Scott and her husband Mark of Lagrange, GA; two sons, John L. Goodrum Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Mobile, AL and Robert J. Goodrum and his wife Vicky of Americus, GA; as well as five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Goodrum was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepfather L.J.Black, a brother, Oscar J. Goodrum Jr,and his first wife of 40 years, Jeanette Jinks Goodrum.
