John Edgar Hayes, Sr., 83, of Dawson, GA passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in the Willson Hospice House in Albany. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2024, in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson with Rev. Bobby Paul officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until funeral time in the cemetery on Friday.

Mr. Hayes was born on May 17, 1941, in Edison, GA the son of the late John Morris Hayes and the late Maxie Mae Woodman Hayes. He retired from Dawson Motor Company as a body repairman, he attended Calhoun County High School and studied Auto Body Repair at Americus Vocation Trade School. He was a member of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Harvey Hayes and Wayne Hayes and 2 great grandchildren, Dixie and Cheyenne.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Hayes of Dawson, 2 daughters, Lisa Ann (Carl) Hodnett and Donna (David) Edwards both of Dawson, 2 sons, John Edgar (Bonnie) Hayes, Jr. of Bronwood and Julian Wayne (Tammy) Hayes of Dawson, a brother, James (Ellen) Hayes of Cuthbert. 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren
