John Wesley  McLendon 84, of Cuthbert, Ga died Friday Dec. 26, 2014 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga.  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday Dec. 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Cuthbert with the Rev. Ben Crowdis officiating.   Interment will be Private.

John W. McLendon, was born in July 31, 1930 in Calhoun Co., the son of the late J. E. "Mac" and Bronnie Belcher McLendon.  He was a  graduate of Cuthbert High School and attended two years at GA Southwestern College in Americus. He was a Deacon at Cuthbert First Baptist Church, served on the Patterson Hospital Authority for many years, was a Member of the Board of Directors at the First State Bank of Randolph County and a Founding Board Member of the Randolph Southern School in Shellman, Ga. He served in the U.S. Air Force.  He was owner of Randolph Tractor Co. for 40 years, in which he started with his father in 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Darrell McLendon.

Mr. McLendon was survived by his wife Barbara Hollis McLendon of Cuthbert, 2 Sons Randy (Joni) McLendon of Sarasota, FL., Marty McLendon  of Leary, a  sister Carol Kilgore of Douglasville, Ga. 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday 5-7 PM Dec. 27, 2014 at Lunsford Funeral Home.
