Joy Belle Pate Shellhouse 74, of Columbus died Friday Jan. 28, 2022, at Columbus Hospice. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday Feb. 2, 2022, In Eastview cemetery with the Rev. Bud Rupel officiating.

Mrs. Shellhouse was born July 30, 1947, in Americus, Ga. the daughter of the late Francis Elton Pate and Mary Belle Oliver Pate. She was a retired schoolteacher for Special Education in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. and earned her master's degree in education at Georgia Southwestern in Americus. She attended Evangel Temple Assembly of God.

Survivors include 2 sisters Sue (Roy) Bridges of Columbus, Ga. and Ann (Eddie) Landers of Americus, Ga.  and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. Jerry Shellhouse.
