Obituary

Allie Louise McAllister, 86, of Abbeville, AL went to her eternal home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Louise was born an only child on March 5, 1937, to the Reverend Lambert and Bessie Crews Jones. In her young childhood years, she overcame a few health struggles and they eventually moved to Coleman, Georgia where she met and married the love of her life, Robert (Bobby) H. McAllister. She loved reading, tending to flowers, taking pictures, journalling many vacations and trips and was our family historian. She was a graduate of Cuthbert High School and Tift College.

She enjoyed working at Andrew College for a few years before settling into her 40+ year career as bookkeeper with Dr. David Weatherby's office in Ft. Gaines, GA. She wore many hats working there!

Louise was always active in church life from the time she was born. She loved the Lord with all her heart and wanted to please him by sharing his love through her smile, optimism, and warmth. She served many roles in church such as pianist, Sunday school teacher, VBS coordinator and HOW she LOVED VBS!! She was a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church of Cuthbert, GA, and in later years was a member of Shorterville Baptist Church of Shorterville, Al. Being mostly homebound the past several years, she still had the heart for church and wanted to attend more, but she settled for her favorite churches on TV each Sunday morning.

Louise was an optimistic overcomer. She relied on her faith in Christ Jesus through the years to help her face the trials of cancer, declining mobility and heath, and the death of her sweetheart over (one year) ago. Others certainly have seen the face of Jesus in her by her example in daily life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Lamber & Bessie Crews Jones and her husband, Robert (Bobby) H. McAllister. Survivors include her daughters, Jewell Elizabeth "Beth" Melling (David) of Prattville, AL, and Patricia "Trish" Ann McCalla (Yancey) of Abbeville, AL; her grandchildren, Madeline, Harrison, Gracelyn; step Grand: Caleb McCalla (Ru), and great grand, Kaia. Also, brother-in-law, Tom McAllister (Jo Ann) of Atlanta, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the Lunsford Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 until service time.

A special thanks goes to the wonderful care received from Covenant Care Hospice in Dothan, Al.

Flowers are accepted as well as donations to the Lottie Moon Christmas Mission of Faith Baptist Church 166 Webster St. Cuthbert, GA 39840 or the Shorterville Baptist Church 896 County Rd. Shorterville, AL 37373.
