Lucious Sherman Strickland 84, of Shellman died May 26, 2013 at Phoebe North Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday May 29th at 2:00 PM at Lunsford Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Morgan, GA Methodist Cemetery.

Mr. Strickland was born November 7, 1928 in Abbeville, AL, son of the late George W. and Willie Lee Rollins Strickland. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Old Zion Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Survivors include his wife; Laurette Aycock Strickland of Shellman, three step-daughters; Patricia Duke and her husband John, Brenda Smith and Joyce Commander all of Shellman, a brother; Larry Strickland of Columbus, three sisters; Robbie Willis of Columbus, Louise Bloodworth of Albany and Edna Strickland of Georgetown, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his children; Penny Akins and Ricky Strickland, a step-son; Wesley B. Commander, III, a brother; Loyd Strickland and a sister; Reba Dykes.

The family will receive friends at Lunsford Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
