Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Lunelle Cullifer Saunders announces her death. Lunelle died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at her residence. She had suffered serious health problems for many years.

A graveside funeral service will be held at East View Cemetery in Cuthbert on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sandy Monroe and Dr. Richard Hawks officiating.

Lunelle,78, was born November 25, 1936 in Randolph County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Douglas J. and Maeola Cullifer. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Saunders; daughter, Sally S.Bassin,  sister, Sara C. McGee; brother, Jack Cullifer; brothers-in-law, David R. McGee, Jerry T. Pearce and Tommy G. Brett.

She is survived by her daughter, Melodie Floyd and her husband, Tommy, of Cuthbert; her grandchildren: Lindsey F. Hays and her husband, Chris, of Social Circle, Georgia; Chase Floyd and his wife, Joanna, and Jon Floyd all of Cuthbert; Carrie F. Moseley and her husband, David, of Leary, Georgia, Sarah B. Bruton and her husband, Ashley, and Margrethe B. Nobles all of Columbia, South Carolina; great grandchildren, Bryan Thomas Hays of Social Circle, Georgia; Marley Jo and Jon Beecher Floyd of Cuthbert, John David Moseley of Leary, Sean and Molly Bruton of Columbia; two sisters, Pansy Brett and Annie Rae Pearce both of Cuthbert; sister-in-law, Robbie Cullifer, of Cuthbert, sister-in-law. Linda Tejeda and her husband, Ron, of Montgomery, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.

All her life, Lunelle was better known to friends and family as "Dooda". She is still Dooda to most of us, but she is also known by "Grams" to her grandchildren and all of their friends. She was owner and operator of Kilgore Dry Cleaners for many years. She loved her customers and would do everything she could to help each one. She made many friends through her work. She loved working in her yard, and especially enjoyed feeding and watching her birds.

Lunelle was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cuthbert where she loved to work with the children as long as she was able. She taught Sunday School and held "Little Church" for the small children for many years. She also played the piano for Sunday School and Church many times.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 193 Church Street, Cuthbert, Georgia 39840, or Albany Community Hospice and Palliative Care, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, Georgia 31707.

There will be no formal visitation, but friends are welcome to visit the family at the home of Melodie and Tommy Floyd.
