Mable Annette Mathis Giles, 82, of Ft. Gaines, GA passed away Sunday August 3, 2025, in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Hartley and Rev. George Hartley officiating.
Mrs. Giles was born on August 2, 1943, in Newton, GA the daughter of the late Woodson Peek "Doc" Mathis and the late Emily Annette Miller Mathis. She was a 1961 graduate of Clarksville High School in Indiana and attended Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, GA for one year. She retired after serving as Clay County Tax Assessor for 30 years and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, love of her life, Jerry Giles and daughter, Rena Giles Turner and brother, Woodson "Woody" Peek Mathis.
Survivors include her 3 daughters, Tammy Marie Giles of Ft. Gaines, Emily (Bobby) Giles Milner of Ft. Gaines and Jill Giles Wilkes of Macon, 2 brothers, Clarence (Cathy) Mathis of Butler, GA and Sammy (Charlotte) Mathis of Newton, GA, 5 grandchildren, Bobbie (Andrew) Giles Brown of Ft. Gaines, Maura (Cody) Ann Shivers of Ft. Gaines, Rodney (KayLee) Allen Turner of Ft. Gaines, Edward Keith Turner of Ft. Gaines and John (Jennifer) Tyler Giles of Bainbridge, 9 great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Grayson, Trenton, Mathew, Mackenzie, Jackson, Bryson, Cheyenne and Kaiden.
Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Turner, Keith Turner, Tyler Giles, Cody Caspari, Andrew Brown and Mike Willis. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home, however prior to visitation they will receive friends at her residence.
