Melissa Faye Thurmond, 80, of Shellman died on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the Joe Anne Burgin Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Morris Moncus officiating.

Melissa was born on January 8, 1941 in Cuthbert the daughter of the late Benjamin Russell and Mildred Melissa Coleman Thurmond. She graduated from the Shellman High School and was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church. She loved needlepoint, being around people and watching television. She loved and never missed watching the Atlanta Braves Baseball games.

Survivors include her Aunt, Bobbie D. Coleman and cousins, Don and Vonda Coleman, James and Judy Coleman, Gwen and Lewell Turner and David Thurmond.

Memorials may be made to the Rehoboth Baptist Church in care of Don and Vonda Coleman at 2782 Five Forks Rd. Shellman, GA 39886. Friends are welcome however masks are encouraged and social distancing will be required.
