Myrtle Belle Akin, 85, of Columbus, GA passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, in the St. Francis Hospital in Columbus. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, 2022, in the Cuthbert Eastview Cemetery with Kenny Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until funeral time in the cemetery.

Myrt was born on July 29, 1936, in Haileah, FL the daughter of the late Floyd and Blanche Bain Payne. She was retired from the Columbus Ledger Enquirer and was a member of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Carol Kohler, Evelyn Strickland and Jeanette Nolan and 5 brothers, Lawrence, Willis, Gordon, Orville and Donnie Payne.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Leslie (John Matthews) Akin and Kelly Williams both of Columbus, 2 sons, Kevin Akin and Jody Akin both of Columbus, a sister, Fern Mainor of Jesup, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will also receive friends after the service at 5064 John McMurria Road Arlington, GA.
