Penny Carla McFather Scarborough, 65, of Cuthbert, GA passed away suddenly at her residence on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in the Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Ben McFather, Rev. Timothy McFather, Jim McFather, and Rev. Frank McFather officiating.

Penny was born on January 8, 1959, in Cuthbert, GA, the daughter of the late Carl Winford McFather and the late Charity Ann Bigbie McFather. After graduating from Randolph County High School, she continued her education with 2 years at Chattahoochee Valley Community College. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She operated her own lawn care service and was a paraprofessional at the Randolph County Middle School before retiring from the Cuthbert United States Post Office after 30 years serving as a carrier and clerk.

Survivors include her fiancé, Sam Peavy, Jr. of Cuthbert, GA, 3 sisters; Jill (Billy) Collier of Cuthbert, GA, Lori Ann (David) Halstad of Cleveland, TN, and Susan (Robert) Scott of Cuthbert, GA, 9 brothers; Frank W. "Bear" McFather of Tampa, FL, Ben (Evadne) McFather of Cuthbert, GA, Jeff McFather of Marietta, GA, Jim (Lisa) Mcfather of Ellaville, GA, Daniel (Lana) McFather of Cuthbert, GA, John (Celina) McFather of Rome, GA, Paul (Joy) McFather of Macon, GA, Tim (Rhonda) McFather of Anniston, AL, and Robert McFather of Cuthbert, GA. and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the funeral home.
