Rev. Olin Cobb Johnson, 77, of Shellman, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Canton, GA, surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 30, 2026, in the Shellman First Baptist Church with Rev. John Sikes officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time in the church.
Olin was born on November 13, 1948, at Patterson Hospital in Cuthbert, GA, the son of the late Ralph Cobb Johnson and Bobbie Sauls Johnson Gibbs. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of Georgia, followed by a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Ordained to the gospel ministry in Osyka, MS in 1980, Olin faithfully served the Lord for over 40 years, touching countless lives through his preaching, leadership, and steadfast faith. His life was a testament to service, compassion, and devotion to both Christ and family.
Outside of ministry, Olin found great joy in fishing, woodworking, collecting, playing music and loving those who called him “Grammy/Pop”. Olin’s legacy of faith, love and service lives on in the lives of his children, grandchildren and all who were blessed to know him.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Susan Brazeal Johnson; his daughter, Suzanne (Buck) Altschul of Canton, GA; son, Clint (Kristy) Johnson of Halifax, VA, and five grandchildren, Zoe Altschul, Livi Altschul, Cole Johnson, Eli Johnson, and Toby Johnson; who brought him immense pride and joy.
