Robert M. Young

Rodney Norbert Young, 88 of Shellman died Feb.10,2014 at Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home in Cuthbert. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday Feb. 13th at 11:00 AM at Lunsford Funeral Home with Mr. David Peavy officiating.

Mr. Young was born December 20, 1925 in Witchita, KS, son of the late Norbert and Annavie Freeman Young. Mr. Young was a Navy Veteran of World War II, was a private pilot for president Lyndon Johnson for 2 years, was an Ag pilot and a welder.

Mr Young is survived by his wife, Flo Merritt Young of Shellman. Children. Brian(Norma) Young of Watkinsville and their children Allison, Melisa and Hayden;Darlene Y. (Brandon) Bateman of Adairsville, their children Kelli, Amy and Tiffany Kimbrell and Abby and Jacob Bateman; Rose Addison of Cuthbert and children Angel and Destiny Addison; and Dee (Douglas) Johnson of St. Mary's and their daughter Brittny ( Wesley) Walker and their grandchildren Jamie and Julie Walker; and a sister, Martha Nestrick of Wyoming. He was preceded in death of by a grandson, James Johnson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Curry Funeral Home in Shellman. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors or Shellman Veterans Park.
