Steven Foy Martin

Steven Foy Martin, 80 passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the home of his niece. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2016 in New Park Cemetery in Ft. Gaines with Rev. Frank Hughes officiating.

Mr. Martin was born on June 18, 1936 in Ft. Gaines the son of the late Otis and Willie Veda Fendley Martin. He served of the Ft. Gaines Police Department as patrolman and assistant Chief from February 1977 until April 1993 and then became Police Chief serving from April 1993 until March 2005. He was a member of the Ft. Gaines City Council, Ft. Gaines Mayor Pro tem, on the board of the River Valley Regional Commission, a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and an Air Force Veteran

Survivors include a grandson; Mathew Scott (Melissa) Wall of Albany, 2 great grandsons; Aaron Wall and Mathew Scott Wall, Jr., care givers; Cherry and Graline Wilbourn and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
